What does “ikigai” mean and what does it have to do with marketing?
“Ikigai” means “reason for being” in Japanese. It’s often illustrated like the Venn diagram seen below.
Many marketers are just looking at the money (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but I want my clients to find their own “ikigai” and use it as a blueprint for their own success. My integrative approach considers monetary gain AND personal fulfillment.

I’m just a [insert profession here], why do I need a brand consultant?
Thanks to the digital age, you, as a [insert profession here], are your own brand. It matters how you (and your brand) are portrayed on social media and online. It matters how your colleagues view you. It matters how your customers and the general public view you.
Effective marketing is essentially when you are able to “accurately” portray your brand to your target demographic. My “ikigai” approach helps you and your company identify “who” you are and who your target demographic is. This process ends up being very illuminating for clients – often times they realize their brand is being portrayed differently than they had intended.
Brand consulting is relevant for entrepreneurs, small companies, corporations, and anyone who has a “public face” (EVERYONE!).
